When I first picked up a camera, I told David, “I will never shoot a wedding.”
“Too much pressure,” I thought. Looking back, I can see where I had it wrong. I thought photographing a wedding meant putting myself in a position of power- that I was responsible for creating something beautiful, and what if I didn’t?

I know better now. I am a documentarian.

A wedding day isn’t a play. It isn’t a production. It’s real life unfolding! A joyous celebration filled with so much energy and emotion. Two people surrounded by the people who know them, love them, and have shaped their lives.I don’t have to create the magic of a wedding day. It’s already there. My job is simply to notice it, to preserve it. So bring me all of the messy moments, the chaotic energy, the spilled drinks and the dirty dresses. That is real life and real life is what I seek to capture.
